Regional Arts NSW - The peak body for regional arts activity in New South Wales

RADO Pidd hops from Deni to Albury

2 September 2002

The Regional Arts Board Albury Wodonga (RABAW) has appointed Chris Pidd as its new Regional Arts Development Officer (RADO).

Chris is well qualified for the job, having spent the last two years in a similar role at South West Arts, based in Hay and Deniliquin. There he was instrumental in reviving the South West's local and touring performing arts and oversaw a number of major projects including Shear Symphony, a massive community performance created for the opening of Shear Outback.

Amongst other achievements, Chris oversaw the development of South West Arts' strategic plan and boosted the RAB's communications and marketing activities, including the production of a regular newsletter and website.

Chris is also the co-ordinator of the Youth Expo at Groundswell: the 2002 Regional Arts Australia National Conference on October 10 - 13. I spoke to Chris on his first day in the new job in Albury today:

"I just want to say how exciting is to be coming on board to the Regional Arts Board Albury Wodonga in time to really get involved in the conference in a more formal way … and how indebted I am to South West Arts for an amazing introduction to the world of being a RADO.

"I'm really looking forward to re-acquainting myself with some people and making new contacts with everybody at Groundswell."

Chris replaces former RADO Althea Banniser who will be staying on in Albury as conference production manager.
