Regional Arts NSW - The peak body for regional arts activity in New South Wales

Audience Development project to go ahead

6 June 2003

Funding for phase II of the Regional Audience Development Specialists (RADS) Program for NSW was recently approved by the Audience and Market Development Division of the Australia Council.

Regional Arts NSW conducted Phase I of the RADS program from 2000 to 2002, focusing on Albury Wodonga and the Southern Tablelands.

The aim was to develop models for regional audience development that could be modified and applied to other regions. Working with the RADOs, models to initiate audience development strategies for local arts and cultural bodies were developed.

This included the initiation of an industry based collective to plan and develop strategies, and workshops to introduce audience development to arts and cultural groups.

Phase II will focus on three levels of development from 2003 to 2005 with the aim of increasing audience development capacities in each. Initially the program will work on activities that increase the spread of audience development skills and knowledge to more established regions.

Applications for the position of Audience Development Officer close on June 16.
