The NSW Premier and Minister for the Arts, Mr Bob Carr, has today announced a total of 148 new grants for local cultural groups across regional and rural New South Wales from the Regional Arts NSW Country Arts Support Program (CASP).
The grants, of between $300 to $3,000 from a total pool of $200,000, will make a big impact in small regional communities throughout the year.
"This program is a great example of how a relatively small amount of funding can have a major impact in regional areas, with literally thousands of people standing to benefit," Mr Carr said.
"Many of these projects will grow into something larger. They are important because they bring townships closer together and give people the chance to develop skills."
CEO of Regional Arts NSW, Victoria Keighery said, "This year's funding round again demonstrates the vital role that this funding program plays for communities in regional NSW."
"Most of these projects simply wouldn't get going ahead without A CASP grant."
The full list list of projects includes festivals, public art works, tours of plays, exhibitions, and music recitals as well as skills development in a diverse range of artforms including visual arts, theatre, dance, choral works, drumming, photographic, circus skills, sculpture, mosaics, storytelling, textiles and more. A number of projects focus on both traditional and contemporary Indigenous culture.
Look out for a CASP project in your area!
