New Communications Officer for Arts OutWest
14 June 2006
Natalie Kent, a former professional journalist from Dubbo, has joined Arts OutWest
this week in the role of Communications Officer.
Working fulltime from the Bathurst offices of Arts OutWest at Charles Sturt University, Natalie will prepare and deliver regular radio segments, produce the monthly ArtSpeak newsletter and maintain and develop the Arts OutWest website.
Natalie completed Journalism studies at the University of Technology, Sydney and has had articles published in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Canberra Times as well as a local Sydney paper. For the past twelve months she has been working as a journalist with the Dubbo Daily Liberal where she covered many arts and cultural stories among the huge volume of diverse news items every journalist has to cover.
Natalie says she is very pleased to have the opportunity to use her media skills and knowledge to assist the arts sector in the Central West to become 'even stronger'.
"I am excited to be working with the positive and constructive aspects of life," she said.
Natalie has a passion for the arts and is an emerging photographer. Recently, she has spent time travelling in South America and Thailand from which she compiled a set of magnificent images and stories.
As a first time resident in the Bathurst area, Natalie says she is getting accustomed to the frosty weather but has been delighted by the warm reception given her by locals!
