New partnership research project to target West Darling region
30 May 2006
Regional Arts NSW is delighted to announce a new research project as part of its Audience Development Program which aims to underwrite the sustainable development of the arts and cultural industries in and around the Broken Hill area.
In a first for Regional Arts NSW, the project is a partnership with West Darling Arts and the Far Western Regional Development Board, with funding from the NSW Department of State and Regional Development.
It will employ a PhD candidate from the University of Adelaide to conduct research, asset mapping and consultation to provide evidence of the value of the sector; identify needs and priorities for the ongoing workforce and market development; and deliver ideas and potential partnership projects with economic development and tourism bodies to grow the arts and cultural industries in the region.
The four month project, which will cover Broken Hill and the surrounding areas of Menindee, Whitecliffs and Wilcannia, is expected to be completed by September 2006.
