Regional Arts NSW is pleased to announce four new projects funded in the April to June 2011 quarter of the Quick Response grant program.
The Quick Response Grants once again assisted regional artists and cultural workers to develop invaluable skills for their work in regional communities through engagement in various professional development opportunities. Artforms represented this quarter included printmaking, visual arts and music across the Mid North Coast, Northern Rivers, and Orana regions.
The Quick Response Grants program provides assistance for regional NSW artists, arts organisations and communities to take advantage of professional and project development opportunities that present themselves at short notice. The funds are provided through the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund which is administered by Regional Arts NSW in New South Wales.
‘Quicks’ grants approved for the April to June quarter were:
$1,500 to printmaker Sara Bowen (Mid North Coast) to assist attendance at the biennial International Printmaking Conference to be held in Melbourne in 2011, the first time the event has been hosted in the southern hemisphere.
$1,500 to musician Ren Waterfall (Northern Rivers) towards a six month residency with the French medieval performance troupe, Les Derniers Trouveres. During the residency he will receive tuition on medieval percussion, shawm, and French language singing, and will perform with the ensemble at various public festivals and attend a traditional music festival in La Chatre in July.
$492 to visual artist Pamela Denise (Northern Rivers) to assist with attendance at the unique and innovative Foxton Festival of Murals in regional New Zealand as professional development for artist's work in community arts projects in the Northern Rivers.
$525 to assist songwriter Patricia Cruzado towards attendance at the three-day Nashville Songwriters Festival to further develop songwriting and teaching skills for extensive work in the Dubbo community and with Orana Country Music Association.
Congratulations to all the recipients.
Applications for the July to September quarter of the Quicks program are now open.
