'Quicks' for January to March 2011

Regional Arts NSW is pleased to announce five new projects funded in the January to March 2011 quarter of the Quick Response grant program.

The Quick Response Grants once again assisted regional artists and cultural workers to develop invaluable skills for their work in regional communities through engagement in various professional development opportunities. Artforms represented this quarter included dance, music and screen arts across the regions of the Mid North Coast, Northern Rivers, West Darling and South East.

The Quick Response Grants program provides assistance for regional NSW artists, arts organisations and communities to take advantage of professional and project development opportunities that present themselves at short notice. The funds are provided through the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund which is administered by Regional Arts NSW in New South Wales.

‘Quicks’ grants approved for the January to March quarter were:

$972 to visual/performing artist Emily Rack (Mid North Coast) to assist attendance at private tuition and workshops in apparatus manipulation offered both prior to and as part of the Earth Freq cultural arts festival in Queensland.
$1,000 to Broken Hill Civic Orchestra (West Darling) for an Orchestral workshop with acclaimed Australian conductor and music educator, Kevin Cameron.
$600 to cinematographer Annie Benzie (Northern Rivers) to assist with attendance at the Content and Technology Camera 3D Day in Sydney as professional development for her work in the Northern Rivers filmmaking community.
$1,440 to assist Lee Pemberton of Fling Physical Theatre (South East) with her attendance at Insider - a day for Dance Industry Professionals as part of the National Dance Forum in Melbourne.
$1,500 to The Fatherhood Project (Northern Rivers) for Message Feet @ Crankfest, pre-festival workshops specialising in popping/locking, breakdance (Bboying) and New Skool Hip Hop from leading artists in these fields with participants performng at Crankfest 2011.
