REGIONAL ARTS
FUND (NSW) APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
The Regional Arts Fund - which is an initiative of the Commonwealth Government
- is one of the key sources of funding for important arts projects in regional
and remote Australia. The aim of the Fund is to encourage locally initiated, sustainable
cultural development in regional areas, with an emphasis on nurturing cross-sectoral
partnerships, providing professional development opportunities and reaching into
smaller, isolated communities, including Indigenous communities. The Fund has
had a major impact on the arts sector in regional Australia since its introduction
by the Federal Government in 1997 (you can also thank it for this e-Bulletin!).

CREATIVE VOLUNTEERING
EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS - EVEN FOR OLD HANDS
If you think you know it all, it seems Creative Volunteering will make
you think again. Participants around the country have been enthused at
how many really useful new ideas they've learnt both from the course content
and from sharing ideas with people from other organisations at the workshops
- even the old hands are saying it.
Creative Volunteering
workshops have now started in New South Wales. The Networking and Business
Planning sessions are on this weekend in Scone and Broken
Hill, closely followed by Coonamble and Hay on the weekend of July 12-13.
If you are in those areas, it's not too late to grab the chance
to skills up your organisation's volunteers for an incredibly cheap (heavily
subsidised) price of only $25 per workshop (including resource book).
Pick up the phone and call Amy or Jenny at Regional Arts NSW on Tel 02
9247 8577 ext 3 to arrange it. There's also lots of info on the website
- fast link from the front page at www.regionalartsnsw.com.au
and the full schedule appears below [here].
TWO NEW STAFF
AT REGIONAL ARTS NSW
Following the recent departure of Michele Elliot, who did such a superlative
job of administering the three Regional Arts NSW grants programs as well
as managing the Public Liability insurance crisis last year, Annette

for Regional Arts NSW. Annette, who started last week, can be contacted
on Tel 02 9247 8577 ext 8 Email annette@regionalartsnsw.com.au.
Regional Arts NSW
is losing another talent this week with the departure of its Business
and Finance Manager, Kyrin Vea Vea, who took up the challenge to help
steer the organisation through its difficult initial stages in 2000. Kyrin
implemented a new accounting system and has provided sound financial management
for both RANSW and six of the Regional Arts Boards ever since. The new
Business and Finance Manager is Jack Gevorgian,
who can be contacted on Tel 02 9247 8577 ext 6 Email jack@regionalartsnsw.com.au.

MINISTRY FOR THE
ARTS HOLDS NATIONAL TOURING FORUM
On 14 May, state and territory arts funding agencies, along with the Federal
Arts Funding Agency, Playing Australia, met at the NSW Ministry for the
Arts offices to discuss support for large and small performing arts companies
to tour the country. This was the first time all funding agencies have
met to share expertise and to discuss possible improvements to current
touring funding programs. It was agreed at the forum that state and territory
touring agencies would work in partnership to address issues regarding
the coordination of state and federal funding dates, audience development
opportunities and information sharing between all tiers of government.
