PUBLIC LIABILITY
INSURANCE NIGHTMARE OVER
Regional Arts NSW has at last secured an affordable insurance package
for the Regional Arts Boards, local arts councils and other affiliated
arts and cultural groups across regional and rural New South Wales. The
best news is that instead of the nine to eleven-fold hike in premiums
we originally faced, the cost is now up only 25% on last year. While this
is still a significant increase, it will be affordable for most affiliate
groups, many of whom, particularly those smaller and more remote groups,
faced closure without the funds to pay very high premiums.
For more on insurance
see the story on our website at www.regionalartsnsw.com.au/news/public_liability-06-05-02.html.
CASP GRANTS 136 PROJECT THE GO-AHEAD
Well we've done it again: $150,000 from the Country Arts Support Program
(CASP), including a one-off $50,000 allocation from the Year of the Outback,
has just been distributed to 136 projects across regional and rural New
South Wales for 2002. The best little grants program in New South Wales
has again demonstrated just how much can be done with so little in regional
arts, as thousands of people across the state stand to directly benefit
from these projects.
The list of successful
applicants includes: 41 visual arts and craft projects; 26 music projects,
17 public art projects, 17 events within festivals, 16 writing projects;
16 theatre/performance/circus projects; 9 guarantees against loss for
touring shows; 7 film/photography projects; 4 dance projects and 4 community
cultural development workshops. A total of 53 funded projects focus on
youth. There were 10 proposals received for projects in Indigenous communities,
all of which were funded; and there were two projects specifically targeting
older people. Special funding has also been allocated for Regional Arts
NSW to run workshops to improve grant application skills in unserviced
regions of the state.
Find out exactly who
got what in your region - the full list of CASP grants recipients is available
online at www.regionalartsnsw.com.au/news/casp_announce_7-5-02.html.
