NEW INITIATIVE
HELPS MAKE WORKPLACE GIVING TO THE ARTS EASIER
The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, recently announced
the launch of Artsupport Australia, a joint initiative between the Australia
Council and the Australia Business Arts Foundation (ABaF) which aims to
boost the amount that Australians donate to the arts. One of the key focuses
is to encourage donors to find and connect with arts organisations and
arts practitioners that motivate them to give to the arts. At the present
time, any worker can donate part of their pre-tax salary to a charity,
including arts organisations that have 'Deductible Gift Register' (DGR)
status. For people wishing to give to particular artists or arts organisations
that do not have DGR status, ABaF can facilitate this through the Australia
Cultural Fund. The role of Artsupport Australia will be to raise the profile
of the Australia Cultural Fund and how it can be used. Website www.abaf.org.au
