QUEENS BIRTHDAY
HONOURS FOR ARTS WORKERS IN THE REGIONS
Regional Arts NSW congratulates the following people from Regional New
South Wales who received Order of Australia Medals for arts related work
in the recent Queen's Birthday Honours list:
* William John Forrest of West Tamworth, for service to the community
of Tamworth, particularly through music, and to Rotary International.
* Adjunct George Kanarakis, of Bathurst, for service to the community
and to education, particularly through the study of Greek arts and culture.
* Kerin Joan Levy, of Kendall for service to the community, particularly
through the Camden Haven Music Festival and the Kendall National Violin
Competition.
* Beryl Purdy, of Tenambit, for service to local government, and to the
community of Maitland through cultural, arts, service, church and sporting
groups.
* Timothy John Stack, of Taree, for service to the community of Taree,
particularly through the Taree and District Eisteddfod Society.
* Alan Francis Swanson, of Wallsend, for service to music in the Hunter
Valley region, particularly pipe music, both as a tutor and performer.
* Shirley Joyce Sweeney, of Lismore, for service to dance, particularly
through the development of the Khorobushka cultural dance syllabus.
* Marjory Forsyth Yeatres (deceased), late of Woolgoolga, for service
to the community of Coffs Harbour through local government and through
environmental and cultural groups.

WOW! - WOMEN ON
WHEELS REGIONAL NSW TOUR
24 June - 5 July, North Coast, New England & Northern Tablelands
A initiative from the NSW Dept for Women to provide regional women access
to information and knowledge about NSW Government and community services,
bringing government and non-government agencies to the doorstep of isolated
regional and rural women. Meet the Director-General of the Dept for Women,
Robyn Henderson plus staff from Legal Aid, the Dept of Aboriginal Affairs,
the Community Relations Commission, the Dept of Sport and Recreation,
and the ICAC. Community agencies including Girl Guides, the Older Women's
Network, FPA Health, the Heart Foundation and Asthma NSW will also take
part. Details of events including formal information sessions and informal
discussions, workshops on financial independence, women 's health events,
breakfasts and morning teas, leadership seminars and 'hands-on ' Information
Technology courses - all being finalised. For more information contact

SBS FEDERATION
SQUARE ART AWARD
A special inaugural national art award to commemorate the relocation of
the SBS Melbourne studios and offices. The aim is to encourage and showcase
Australia's multicultural diversity through the visual arts. Open to all
Australian artists, for new and original two dimensional works with the
medium open, dealing with the theme 'Australian Multiculturalism in the
21st Century'. Works will be exhibited at Federation Square and later
tour other capital cities and regional areas. First prize $10,000, Second

AWARDS
The City of Greater Dandenong in Melbourne has announced that the National
Writing Awards are now open and calling for entries. Emerging writers
will have the chance to expand their literary experience and share in

LINK VOLUNTEER AWARDS
Nominate your local or regional volunteer group to share in $375,000 in
