ARTISTS' TRADE SECRETS
Every
year people contact the Australia Council with great ideas, energy and drive,
but aren't sure how to develop their concepts into something tangible, or in many
cases even where to begin. Exhibitionists is a new publication and interactive
website designed to show young people how others have grown good ideas into successful
projects. Ten profiles reveal the secrets of talented young artists making their
mark on the Australian cultural landscape, all of whom have received funding from
the Australia Council's Young and Emerging programs. Check it out at http://theprogram.net.au/features.asp

RAILWAY
STREET THEATRE COMPANY'S PRODIGAL
An Australian musical,
Prodigal is a contemporary retelling of the parable of the young man who
takes his portion of the family estate, travels to a distant country, squanders
it on loose living, then meekly returns to the fold a chastened and humble soul.
The prodigal son of this musical has a different burden: he is gay, and leaving
the family for university and the bright lights of inner-city Sydney is the necessary
first step in his journey to self-acceptance. Prodigal received a Green
Room Award for Best Original Lyrics and Music in 2000. It has been performed at
Chapel on Chapel and at the York theatre, New York in 2002. Available to tour
in September/October 2006. Contact Diane Tel 02 4732 1649 Email diane@railwaystreet.com.au
