Broken Hill Council dismissed
Broken Hill Council has been dismissed by the NSW Minister for Local Government, Kerry Hickey. The President of the Shires Association of NSW, Cr Col Sullivan OAM has taken issue with the decision: "I am not arguing with the merits or otherwise on which the Minister has based his decision. I am stating without qualification it is a disgrace for any government to say an administrator will replace an elected council until 2009, especially when there are State-wide elections for local government across NSW in 2008."
