ARTS
AND HEALTH AND WELLBEING FORUM ON CCD.NET
This is an ongoing discussion for all those interested in Arts, Health and Wellbeing.
Moderated by members of ANAH - the Australian Network for Arts & Health. This
forum and associated project profiles aim in some way to profile 'arts and health'
in 2004. The Australian Network for Arts and Health believes that 'the arts manifest
in partnership with and within health care environments in many ways; as community
cultural development, public art, arts therapy, with art making and collecting
and in health promotion. Potentially each of these practices can represent the
cultural development of the vast health and welfare sector, working toward the
well being of our communities." Website www.ccd.net/forums/current.html

ALANA
VALENTINE'S 'THE PROSPECTORS'
A fascinating story set in the Victorian goldfields in the 1850s, The Prospectors
explores an important part of our colonial history, the Eureka Stockade. The play,
a two hander, explores the themes of Mateship, Gold, Identity and Democracy. Chosen
by Monkey Baa to cater for upper primary students, The Prospectors is an
ideal play to tour into smaller adaptable, theatre spaces. We will travel with
sound and lights, so actual theatre spaces are not essential. The play would work
equally as well in a local church hall. The tour is being co-ordinate by Arts
on Tour Ltd and they will provide the GAL for interested venues. Seeking to
contact venues ASAP as the touring grant is due in late July. Contact Tim McGarry
