RANSW Milestone as Orana Arts and Arts Northern Rivers incorporate
9 July 2004
Regional Arts NSW's work to establish Regional Arts Boards across the State
is finally complete, as the last two Steering Committees, one in the Orana and
one in the Northern Rivers, have now handed over the reins to fully fledged Regional
Arts Boards.
The incorporation of Orana Arts and Arts Northern Rivers brings to thirteen
the number of independent Regional Arts Boards now established in New South Wales.
Orana Arts has a Board of ten Directors made up of a council representative
and community representative from each of the five contributing local government
areas of Coolah, Coonabarabran, Gilgandra, Narromine and Dubbo. The Chair of the
Board is Aileen Bell. The Board met for the first time on 18 June and was officially
launched in Dubbo today with a new logo and the publication of the Orana region's
first cultural directory.
Arts Northern Rivers incorporated on 21 June with an interim board comprised
of representatives from each of the contributing local councils of Tweed, Ballina,
Byron, Richmond Valley, Clarence Valley, Kyogle and Lismore. The Chair of the
board is Tweed Mayor, Cr Warren Polglase. Arts Northern Rivers will celebrate
its incorporation with a series of local launches and community meetings in each
local government area in August.
