SOUTH WEST ARTS has today announced it is
moving into a new era, with significant organisational changes including a new
staffing structure and Business Plan for the next 3 years of operation.
Nina O'Brien-Hehir, former Project Officer,
has taken on the role of Executive Officer/Regional Arts Development Officer (RADO)
in a part-time capacity. She will continue to act as the primary contact for the
organisation. Nina has previously worked as a RADO (she established Orana Arts
in Gilgandra) and as a Regional Gallery Manager/Arts officer for Country Arts
South Australia.
Julia Stephenson, a former Hay resident who recently graduated from
the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Sound, Music
and Production, has been appointed as South West Art's full-time Project Officer.
Julia has lived in the South West region for much of her life, and has always
been involved in the arts scene. She has also worked with Murray Arts, the RAB
for Albury Wodonga, and held various arts related volunteering roles. Julia's
first job at South West Arts will be to develop an updated cultural directory
and venue data base for the region.
Jo Begbey will remain in role of part-time
Finance Officer.
South West Arts' new three year Business Plan includes twelve strategic projects
covering a variety of cultural activity from visual, performing and cinematic
arts to community group support and training - all developed in response to community
consultation . South West Arts is also expected to announce some new new sponsorships
and office arrangements shortly.
"South West Arts looks forward to contributing greatly to the cultural
life in the region," said Nina O'Brien, "facilitating and assisting
in projects and workshops, whilst working closely with the many communities in
the Deniliquin, Hay, Balranald, Berrigan, Conargo, Wakool, Jerilderie, Murray
and Murrumbidgee Local Government Areas."
