18 May 2005

Kylie Moppett is the new Regional Arts Development Officer (RADO) for Orana Arts, the Regional Arts Board which services the Warrumbungle, Narromine, Dubbo and Gilgandra local government areas of New South Wales. Ms Moppett replaces former RADO Nina O’Brien who has taken up a position as Project Officer with South West Arts.

Ms Moppett has a strong background in venue operations and business development. Previously Venues Co-ordinator for the Historic Houses Trust and Venue Manager at Volvo Gallery and the Gap Bluff Centre, both in Sydney, she has also been an agent for a contemporary artist in Sydney.

Chair of Orana Arts, Aileen Bell, said, "We’re pleased to have such a skilled professional as Ms Moppett in the key role of RADO for Orana Arts. There are often difficulties luring skilled arts workers to the bush, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be working with Ms Moppett."

“Orana Arts can look forward to an exciting year ahead, working closely with arts and community groups towards developing more vibrant and sustainable communities in the region."

In her role as RADO, Ms Moppett will be working closely with communities in the Warrumbungle Shire, Narromine, Dubbo and Gilgandra areas, based on the 2005-2006 Strategic Plan developed by the Orana Arts Board. The Strategic Plan focuses on seven major projects over the next eighteen months including Art Start (the youth arts festival, in conjunction with Arts Out West) and a tour of the theatre piece for children, The Prospectors.
