Timelines for the establishment of new Regional
Arts Boards

The establishment of the two new Regional Arts Boards will involve
- planning processes with partners the Local Government and Shires
Associations (LGSA) and the NSW Ministry for the Arts
- joint negotiations with local government for contributions
- joint consultations in each region and
- the establishment of Steering Committees.
The process will be as follows:

FAR NORTH COAST |

July 2002
|
Consultation with Regional Arts Development Officers (RADOs)
in each of the surrounding regions on issues or concerns associated
with the establishment of the new region.

September to November 2002
|
Contact with local arts and cultural groups and representatives
in the region to gain input to, and support for the establishment
of a Regional Arts Board.
|
|
September to October 2002
|
In conjunction with the LGSA, contact with the nine to eleven
local governments identified for the Far North Coast region
to enlist contributions towards the core costs and operational
budget from the folowing Shires: Ballina, Byron, Copmanhurst,
Grafton, Kyogle, Lismore, Maclean, Pristine Waters, Richmond
Valley and Tweed.

Field visits to the LGAs in te region to present the rationale
and models for the establishment of a Regional Arts Board
and to field questions, respond to concerns or expressions
of interest

November to December 2002
|
Identification and recruitment of a Steering Committee and
negotiation of Terms of Reference for its work.

early 2003
|
RADO position advertised.

ORANA |
|
July 2002
|

local governments identified for the Central Orana region
to enlist contributions towards the core costs and operational
budget from the folowing Shires, all of whom have expressed
interest in forming a Regional Arts Board: Coolah, Coonabarabran,
Dubbo, Gilgandra, Naromine and Wellington.
