James Giddey new RADO for West Darling region

James Giddey is the new RADO for the West Darling, a unique region
which is bordered by three states and includes three Shires and
a vast unincorporated area.
James has over thirty years experience in the arts and cultural
profession as an art administrator, teacher, practicing artist,
cultural development
manager and events manager.
He has worked for local government for fifteen years in Tamworth,
Moree and Deniliquin. He has been the Director of the Hawkesbury
Community Arts Workshops, the Director of the Tamworth City Gallery,
the Moree Plains Gallery and the Peppin Heritage Centre in Deniliquin
and most recently the Cultural Development Officer for Deniliquin
Council.
James has undertaken research in museum practice and curatorial
study at museums and galleries in Europe and has promotion and marketing
experience with artists, craftspeople, performers, artists
co-operatives, musical and performing groups, regional galleries
and cultural institutions as well as major festivals.
Recently he developed the Marketing and Business Plan for the Deni
Play on the Plains and World Record Ute MusterFestival.
Other innovative projects initiatied by James include roles as
craftsperson-in-residence and artist-in-residence; the Longpaddock
Living Museum project and the development of an Aboriginal
Artists Co-operative (Yurundiali).
