October 2001: The first ever joint state cultural conference signaled a major new development in state-wide co-operation in the arts: Regional Arts NSW, the Museums and Galleries Foundation of NSW and Community Cultural Development NSW all joined forces, together with the Local Government and Shires Associations of NSW, to host this major event.

culture@com.unity:

• acknowledged our shared purpose,
• celebrated the extraordinary efforts of artists, artsworkers, volunteers and local government representatives,
• provided skills development for all of us so that we can do our work more effectively and
• showcased the energy and vision of communities across the state who use the power of culture to achieve great outcomes

The conference was a resounding success.
